Massage Basics:

Massage is one of the oldest, simplest forms of therapy and is a system of stroking, pressing and kneading different
areas of the body to relieve pain, relax, stimulate, and tone the body.  Massage does much more than create a
pleasant sensation on the skin, it also works on the soft tissues(the muscles, tendons, and ligaments) to improve
muscle tone.  Although it largely affects those muscles just under the skin, its benefits may also reach the deeper
layers of muscle and possibly even the organs themselves.  Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the
lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system), improving the elimination of waste throughout the body.

Please come into the office 5-10 minutes early to fill out client forms and have time to discuss your goals for the
massage and what areas you are having problems with.

We ask that you tell us at any point during the massage if you want more or less pressure, or if anything is
uncomfortable or painful.

You will need to drink at least 8 ounces of water after your massage.  Drinking water helps to flush toxins out of
your system, which are released from your muscles by the massage.  Without enough water after a massage, the toxins
will re-adhere to the muscle fibers leaving you stiff and sore the next day.
